Ever so often, it feels like the playback-on-a-loop switch has been turned on in my head. The signs are all too familiar. I get into a recipe crunch, and I keep making the same thing over and over….and over. Another day, same recipe. Rinse, and repeat until…

Well this time, I am hooked on smoothie bowls, and it has been one smoothie bowl after another for a few good days. This Mango banana breakfast smoothie bowl happens to be one of my favourites for a few reasons.

First of, it is such a refreshing and healthy way to start the day. And if you are prone to bouts of daydreaming like I am, you might even momentarily be transported to some tropical island of your choice. It also happens to double-up as a breakfast version of one of my favourite desserts.

Because I serve this in a bowl, I pass the yogurt first through a strainer. So I end up with an extra thick smoothie that is best eaten with a spoon. The result is a thicker and creamier consistency that is akin to soft ice-cream. To satisfy my superfood cravings, I have topped up my smoothie bowl with chia seeds and sunflower seeds.
