In a large bowl, add the minced meat, breadcrumbs, egg yolk, onion, garlic and spices. Do not add salt at this point. Mix gently to combine the ingredients. Do not overwork the mix otherwise the mixture will become mushy.
Divide into 4 portions of roughly equal size, and gently flatten the portions until they are about three-quarters of an inch thick. Press the centre of each flattened portion down, so you have a slight indentation in the centre. This will prevent the centre from puffing up when the burger is cooking.
Just before you place the burgers on the grill, salt the burgers, and brush a slither of coconut oil on the outside of the burgers.
Grill on indirect heat, turning over frequently, until done.
